Christmas at East Lothian Libraries





Get in the festive mood, and keep the kids occupied by taking them along to some of our great Christmas themed events.

Dunbar Library

Friday 6th and 13th December at 2.30pm- 3.30pm - Kids Christmas Crafts. On 6th, the kids will be making Christmas decorations and on the 13th making their own Peter Pan crocodile! Spaces limited, booking required.  Email Dunbar Library to book.

Friday 20th December to Monday 23rd December - Craft/Colouring table available in the children's section. Pop in to say Merry Christmas and make something decorative to take home. This is parent/guardian supervised activity table.

Drop in Lego Club will be on throughout December, Fridays 2.30pm-3.30pm.

Kids Countdown to Christmas. Challenge yourself to follow our Christmas Advent, lots of activities to keep you going throughout the festive season. Try something new, donate a toy to charity, do a household task.... and .....read a book.

Gullane Library

Christmas craft session every Thursday afternoon 3.30-4.15pm on 5th, 12th and 19th December. For ages 5 years +. Under 8's must be accompanied by an adult.

Longniddry Library

Christmas crafts for children on Saturday 7th December 11am- 12noon

'Wear your Christmas jumper' on Friday 13th December at our Bookbug session at 10.30am.

Christmas Bedtime Storytime on Monday 16th December at 6pm. Bring your little ones dressed for bed. Pyjamas, dressing gown, onesie, slippers,blanket and teddy, ready for Christmas stories around the Christmas tree, followed by cookies and milk. Musselburgh Library

11th December at 10.30am there is a special storytime reading of 'Hugs and Kisses' by Sam Hay and Emma Dodd. For pre-schoolers. A sea creature craft event will follow. Limited spaces so contact the library to book. Email Musselburgh library or telephone 01620 827827.

An extra special Christmas themed Bookbug session will take place on Thursday 10th December at 10.30am. Dress up or wear your Christmas jumper.

This is for Adults:
Musselburgh Active Arts Adult Christmas Craft session on Tuesday 10th December 2pm-4pm. Join us for a good natter and in making a special themed Christmas craft. £5 per person. No need to book.

Write your letters to Santa and post them off at Musselburgh library between 2nd and 20th December. If you've been good this year you'll find a special reply straight from the North Pole on our library Christmas tree.

Prestonpans Library

Drop in crafts for children from Friday 20th December to Tuesday 24th December. There will be crafts decorate a stocking, Xmas jumper or Christmas bauble and hang them on the fireplace.

There will also be an Elf treasure hunt from 2nd to 23rd December.

Tranent Library

Craft sessions every Thursday from now until 19th December, 3.30pm- 5pm. This is on at the same time as the Lego Club.

Christmas party on Thursday 19th December at 5pm -6pm. Under 8's must be accompanied by an adult. Free event but tickets are required. Email or telephone 01620 827827.

Christmas Bookbug session on Friday 20th December at 11am.

Come in and design a Christmas postcard which will be sent to the residents of Crookston care home.

There is also a competition to design a Christmas Bauble. Come into the library and pick up a template.

Wallyford Library

Christmas Crafts on Saturday 7th December at 10.30am with the Books, Bairns and Blether group.

Children's Christmas party on Saturday 21st December from 10.30am onwards.

Book Week Scotland 2019 Additional Event




Isla Aitken will be at North Berwick library on Wednesday 20th November at 11am to talk about her book, 'Making Pearls from Grit' which details her journey with cancer. Free event, no need to book just come along.

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland




Are you deaf, having hearing loss, or care for someone with hearing loss? 
Action on Hearing Loss Scotland can support people who need information on hearing loss to help them at home/ work or social life.  They will be visiting East Lothian libraries to provide free hearing checks.

Our eBook title for our Digital Book Group is.....

We are excited to announce that the title for our Digital Blether is .........

This title will be available to download via Borrowbox from 14/11/2019 until 12/01/2020.
 
This will be simultaneous access so multiple people can borrow and read this title at the same time!! Once it goes live download, get reading and blethering with friends, family, your book group, at the shops.......
 
We will have a pinned post on our facebook page where you can share your thoughts and discuss the book with others. Each week we will choose a comment at random with the poster winning a prize! If you've read the book previously or are reading it in another format then we would still love for you to join in the blether.
