This March, the
John Gray Centre Film Appreciation Club is re-commencing its physical
screenings after two years of virtual meetings!
The Club kicks
off this year’s Film in Libraries programme with the John Gray Centre
10th Anniversary Film Season. As the Centre first opened to the
public in March 2012, a specially curated libraries and
heritage themed film programme will be held in the Star Room at the Centre.
On Saturday March 12th at 10.30 am, the film club will be showing Ex-Libris: The New York Public Library (Frederick Wiseman, 2017; 3hr 25min, Rating 12).
This
award winning documentary delves into the inner workings of the New York
Public Library, one of the greatest public institutions in New York City with a
rich and layered range of community services. This epic three hour film
features the formidable events unfolding within the institution as well as the
community surrounding it, striving to uphold the values of learning, education
and culture in a time when truth and science are under threat.
An annual membership to the film club is a one time £15 donation, which gives free entry to all screenings this year or £3.50 donation per single entry and £2 for East Lothian Council staff.
Please see the poster for all the screenings due to take place in March.
