Become Explorers: Summer Reading Challenge 2019

It's the Summer holidays and the start of our Summer Reading Challenge! We're doing things slightly differently this year.  We're challenging you to explore your local area with our summer activity challenges.

You'll have been given a passport at school, where you'll be able to keep track of everything you've done over the summer.

There are three challenges to take part in:

Family Explorer Challenge -  The first challenge is to have fun! Complete 10 activities over the whole summer, one of these must be to read a book.

Reading Challenge - Read 6 library books over the summer holidays

Family Reading Challenge - Watch the grown up's around you. How much reading do they do? What are the reading? Whether it's a book or magazine, map, recipe - it all counts a reading.

You can complete at many challenges at you like and you don't have to finish one challenge to start another!

Certificate and Prize Draw

Once you have completed a challenge, bring the passport and proof of activities along to your local library - you'll get a certificate and small prize.  Everyone completing a challenge goes into the draw for some different prizes at the end of the holidays.

You will get bronze medal for completing one challenge, a silver medal for completing two and a gold medal for completing all three challenges. Medals will be awarded at school after the summer.

For more information, why not pop into a branch or check out our website for more information.

Library Activities

We have lots of activities going on in each of our branches over the holiday period from crafts, scavenger hunts, visits to explore local areas of interest, storytimes, board games, Lego sessions, Coding sessions and much much more.  Lots to keep the children occupied this summer!

All library activities are free but numbers are limited for some events and will require to be booked. Also please note that children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Remember taking part in a library activity also counts towards the Family Explorer Challenge!
