60+ free bus passes

All applications for the 60+ free bus pass are now processed by library staff on-line. All you need to bring in is acceptable proof of ID and address - contact any library for details. You don't need to bring in a photo though, as we'll take one in the library.

Looking forward to Coastword, Dunbar's festival of words, taking place from 20th - 22nd June.

"CoastWord, Dunbar's festival of words, is a magical mix of singer songwriters, poets, writers and as was put by one of our audience last year ‘Grass Roots Story making’. CoastWord is not to be missed! Established and Masterful Writers with the New and Emerging come together with the stories from our town. The stories of mothers and grandmothers, of local poets and singers, from the young to the old, to the new residents to the ones who have seen our town through a lifetime and through the lifetimes before them- CoastWord is a festival that looks out and then back in –like the waves that shaped us".

Would you consider joining a citizen's panel for East Lothian?

East Lothian Citizens’ Panel

Want to share your views? Join our Citizens’ Panel

The East Lothian Partnership*

is setting up a Citizens’ Panel to help gather the views of a cross section of the East Lothian population on a regular basis. Panel members will be asked for their views on issues such as quality of life, health and wellbeing and safety, as well as on their satisfaction with public services. The information gathered will help public sector organisations such as the Council, NHS, Fire & Rescue Service and the Police to plan and make improvements to the services they provide locally.

Two main surveys will be sent to Panel members each year, although there may be an opportunity to complete smaller surveys now and again or to take part in focus group discussions (members can opt to take part in these when completing the recruitment questionnaire). Panel members can choose to receive paper surveys through the post or to complete surveys online – the latter helping the Council to reduce printing and postage costs.

Citizens’ Panel members need to be aged 16 or over and living in East Lothian. To apply to join visit:

Please consider signing up – as a member of the Panel you can really make a difference.

* The East Lothian Partnership brings together public services, the voluntary sector, the business community and other community organisations that are based or working in East Lothian.
