Sharing a Million Stories - World Book Month

We are working with Schools, bookshops, libraries, businesses and homes nationwide to share a million stories during World Book Month ( 27th February to 29th March). Spending just 10  minutes a day reading and sharing stories with children can make a crucial difference to their outcome and it's fun for all involved. You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! In the park, on the train, on the sofa, on a plane - reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.  
Our libraries will be sharing stories at all of our regular events and there are also some special sessions arranged so keep an eye out for more information over the month -we'll update you will our totals each week - how many children do you think we can reach?

East Linton Library
Storytimes for ages 4 -7 years will take place on the following dates:

Friday 28th February
Saturday 29th February
Friday 6th March 
Saturday 7th March 
Friday 13th March
Saturday 14th March 
Friday 20th March 
Saturday 21st March
Friday 27th March 

Gullane Library  
Starting from Thursday 27th February until Saturday 28th March, Gullane library will be holding a storytime every day they are open!  

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays the session will take place at 3.30-3.50pm and on Saturdays at 11-11.20am. 

Longniddry Library 
Starting from Thursday 27th February until Friday 27th March, Longniddry library will be sharing a story at 4pm Monday through to Friday. 

Musselburgh Library
World Book Day coincides with our Thursday Bookbug session on 5th March at 10.30am so we'd like you to celebrate World Book Day by coming along dressed up as your favourite characters!

Each family that joins us for Thursday Bookbug will also be entered into an extra special raffle to win an amazing prize!

Musselburgh library staff will be reading stories aloud every day from Thursday 27th February to Saturday 28th March! 

Make sure and listen out during Bookbug, Lego Club and Code club for other story tellings too!

There will be themed storytimes followed by crafts for preschool children. These will take place on:
Wednesday 4th March
Saturday 7th March
Wednesday 11th March
Saturday 14th March

North Berwick Library 
A World Book Day story hunt will take place from 2nd March to 29th March. Pop into North Berwick library and pick up a form to collect all the story clues around North Berwick. Once you have them all return to the library for a prize.

Ormiston Library
Starting from Thursday 27th February until Friday 27th March we invite everyone to pop in at 4pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays to share a story.

On Thursday 5th March to celebrate World Book Day we have a special 'Share a Story' at 4pm where we ask you to come dressed as your favourite book character or bring a prop of that character.

On Friday 13th March we welcome you to pop in anytime from 10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm to design or origami your bookmark. There is a woodland animal theme. 

Port Seton Library 
There will be a story time every Tuesday in March at 10.30am.

On Thursday 5th March at 3.30-4.30pm there will be a World Book Day themed craft and story telling session.  

Prestonpans Library 
Exciting news to follow!

Tranent Library
From 27th February to 29th March, during library opening hours, Tranent library will be reading a story a day to children. Fancy hearing a story? Just ask at the library desk. 

Wallyford Library

There's someone wriggling and munching their way through a book.... who can it be? Come along on Thursday 5th March at 2.40pm to help us find out who it is and if they are full up! Lots of fun with story and props, activities and crafts. Open to P1-P3 children.

Office Closure - Wednesday 26th February 2020

On Wednesday, 26 February 2020, the Customer Service staff within the local  Area Offices, Branch Libraries, Library HQ and the Museums will be having a day for planning of services and staff development. This means that there will be no staffed reception area within the Brunton Hall, Musselburgh. 

George Johnstone Centre in Tranent, John Gray Centre in Haddington, Library and Museum HQ in Haddington and all Branch Libraries and Museums will be closed to the public with the exception of the John Muir’s Birthplace in Dunbar which will remain open. The Main Reception in John Muir House, Haddington will be staffed.
