Story Lab

Story Lab is this year's Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge in Scotland and celebrates the power of stories and the imagination as well as the spirit of the Olympics.

This video explains what it's all about:

There are great books to read and stickers and prizes to collect along the way.

For each book you read, you will get an entry to a prize draw - so the more books you read the more chances you have to win an Amazon voucher and other prizes.

Read six books over the summer to receive your Gold medal and certificate!

Join in the fun at all East Lothian Libraries - including special Story Lab events and activities - and it's absolutely free to take part!

John Gray Centre wins Golden Book Stamp Award

The John Gray Centre has won its first award. The Golden Book Stamp Award was presented to Principal Libraries Officer, Alison Hunter and Local History Librarian at the recent Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIPS) Conference in Dundee by the current President, Peter Reid. The theme of the conference was libraries enriching society.

CILIPS President, Peter Reid praised the building in his visit to East Lothian last week saying, “The building has been renovated fantastically and the glass atrium is juxtaposed beautifully against the original listed buildings. This is co-location of services at its very best and is certainly an exemplar, a model for how to combine library, archives, local studies and museum……absolutely stunning in every respect “
