Make a noise in libraries!



 Make a noise in libraries fortnight, 2-15 June, is a national initiative promoted by the RNIB aimed to bring together libraries and blind and partially sighted people to improve access to books and information. This year the theme is World War One. The John Gray Centre, Haddington  is hosting an event on 9th June,
particularly aimed at blind and partially sighted people, but open to everyone
·         Talking tours of the new WW1 exhibition in the museum at 2.00pm and 3.45pm

·         Ken Cockburn, a talented Edinburgh based poet will be reading WW1 poems  at 3.00pm and 4.45pm

·         Throughout the afternoon a member of staff will be available in the Star room to demonstrate our new Penfriends for audio books collection. Visually impaired people will be able to use a Penfriend to scan and then listen to the “blurb” of an audio book

·         There will be a handling/reminiscence collection of WW1 memorabilia to touch and talk about

·         A member of staff dressed in a uniform of the time will  be in attendance
